Terms of Service

Terms setting out the conditions for using the services provided by rootnine, the rights and obligations of users and the operator, and the scope of liability.

Article 1 (Purpose)

The purpose of these Terms is to set out the conditions and procedures for using the services provided by rootnine (the “Operator”), and the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the Operator and users. rootnine is a development studio run by an individual, not a corporation.

Article 2 (Definitions)

  1. Service — means all websites and mobile applications provided by the Operator.
  2. User — means a person who agrees to these Terms and uses the Service.
  3. Member — means a user who has created an account through social authentication.
  4. Content — means text, images, video, and the like provided within the Service or registered by users.

Article 3 (Effect and Amendment of the Terms)

  1. These Terms take effect by being posted within the Service.
  2. The Operator may amend these Terms where necessary, and upon amendment will announce the effective date and the reason for the amendment within the Service from 7 days before the effective date. Amendments that are disadvantageous to users will be announced 30 days in advance.
  3. If a user does not agree to the amended Terms, the user may stop using the Service and withdraw.

Article 4 (Sign-up and Accounts)

  1. The Service can be joined only through social authentication (Apple, Google, Kakao).
  2. A person under the age of 14 may not sign up without the consent of a legal representative. The study management service can be joined only in the manner where the legal representative first creates a guardian account and then links a child account, and the procedure follows the Consent to the Collection and Use of Personal Data.
  3. A user may not transfer or lend their account to a third party.
  4. Responsibility for managing account information rests with the user, and the Operator is not liable for damage arising from negligent management unless there is intent or gross negligence on the Operator’s part.

Article 5 (Provision and Change of the Service)

  1. The Operator endeavors to provide the Service 24 hours a day, all year round.
  2. Provision of the Service may be temporarily suspended for reasons such as system maintenance, equipment replacement, or communications failure, and in such cases notice will be given in advance. However, in urgent cases notice may be given afterwards.
  3. The Operator may change the contents of the Service or discontinue some functions, and material changes will be announced in advance.

Article 6 (Obligations of Users)

Users must not engage in the following acts.

  1. Misappropriating another person’s personal data or registering false information
  2. Interfering with the normal operation of the Service (excessive automated requests, exploiting vulnerabilities, etc.)
  3. Registering content that infringes another person’s intellectual property rights, such as copyright or trademark rights
  4. Slandering or harassing another person or damaging their reputation
  5. Acts in violation of the law or public order

Article 7 (Rights in Content)

  1. Copyright in content registered by a user in the Service belongs to that user.
  2. The Operator may use such content only for the purposes of providing and improving the Service.
  3. Where the Service links to or embeds content from an external platform, the rights in that content belong to the original copyright holder, and the Operator does not re-host it.
  4. Rights in the screen composition, design, and source code created by the Operator belong to the Operator.

Article 8 (Management of Content)

  1. Where a user’s content violates Article 6, the Operator may make that content private or delete it without prior notice.
  2. A user may raise an objection to the measure, and the Operator will review it and respond.

Article 9 (Restriction of Use)

  1. Where a user violates these Terms, the Operator may take measures in stages, such as a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent suspension of use.
  2. However, in the case of unlawful acts or acts that materially disrupt the operation of the Service, permanent suspension of use is possible immediately.

Article 10 (Termination of the Contract)

  1. A user may terminate the use contract at any time by deleting their account on the settings screen within the Service.
  2. Upon termination, the user’s personal data is processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

Article 11 (Limitation of Liability)

  1. The Operator is not liable for an inability to provide the Service due to force majeure, such as natural disasters, carrier failures, or the discontinuation of third-party services.
  2. The Operator is not liable for damage arising from information a user obtains through the Service unless there is intent or gross negligence on the Operator’s part.
  3. The Operator has no obligation to intervene in disputes between users or between a user and a third party.

Article 12 (Resolution of Disputes)

  1. The Operator and users shall endeavor to resolve disputes between them through mutual consultation.
  2. Where consultation is not reached, the court of jurisdiction shall be determined in accordance with the Civil Procedure Act (민사소송법).
  3. These Terms shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea.
