About

rootnine

A studio that designs and builds web and mobile products. Setting the data model and permission structure, building the web and the app, shipping to the stores, and fixing what operating them turns up.

The work usually starts with rules rather than screens. How many user tiers there are, which data should be visible to whom, and where that rule gets enforced — all settled before the code. So permissions are blocked at the database rather than the screen, and numbers that matter are recomputed on the server rather than taken from the client.

The name

What the name means

nine
The nine fruits of the Spirit — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
root
To be rooted in those nine.
√9 = 3
Take the root of nine and you get three — the Trinity.

Most of those nine fruits are about how you treat people, and software is used by people in the end. So the name doubles as a standard for the work: never design against the user, never bury consent, and build things that hold up over time.

Aurora design system

Every product shares one token set: a dark-first palette that lays a cold aurora spectrum over a deep-night background, keeping color, type, spacing, and effects consistent. This site uses the same tokens.
